In the middle of listening to Steppenwolf and reading The Bluest Eyes from my 100 Great Books List, I threw my hands up and said, "I cannot read another depressing novel, especially in the middle of Holy Week! So, I told myself, "Get thee to a library!" So, I found Billy Graham's latest book, Nearing Home: Life, Faith, and Finishing Well and read the first 100 pages in the beautiful library reading room (review and picture of me reading forthwith). What balm to my soul!
But I needed a listening book for Holy Week too (What good is a shower without a good book to listen to on my speaker?). I realized that I had gotten a free audiobook of one of my favorite spiritual classics, The Pursuit of God, from www.learnoutloud.com (or maybe www.christianaudio.com). I had never gotten through it before and figured that Holy Week was a perfect time.
Oh my word, BALM TO MY SOUL! I think this is my third time reading it, and it gets better every time! I found myself underlining and posting them to my Facebook page so much (You can get it free on a Kindle too). It turns out that one of the girls in our kingdom community had started reading it on the same day and was sharing from it on Wednesday night. It got two other girls to read it this week too.
If you are a follower of Jesus or you are exploring Jesus and have never read him, TOZER IS YOUR MAN! He is hands-down my favorite devotional writer. You will love him.
Here it is in a PDF if you don't want to buy it: The Pursuit of God.
If you have a Kindle, here is the free version for you: The Pursuit of God
"What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well" (The Little Prince by de Saint-Exupéry). One woman's journey to wellness through a well-adjusted heart, well-watered soul, well-educated mind, and well-tuned body. "Love the Lord your God with all your HEART, and with all your SOUL, and with all your MIND, and with all your STRENGTH" (Mark 12:30-31).
